Survivor Circle

  • In 2003, ASTRO created the Survivor Circle as a way to honor cancer survivors. Each year, ASTRO awards two grants to patient support organizations and features them at the Survivor Circle at the Annual Meeting. It was our hope that by partnering with local organizations in the states that host our meeting, we would be able to not only give back to the states we visit, but also help raise awareness of these important organizations among our members.
  • Survivor Circle Award

ASTRO established the Survivor Circle Award to honor cancer survivors in the cities where its Annual Meeting is held. This award recognizes local cancer survivors who give back to the community. The winner receives a cash prize of $1,000 and is recognized at the Award Ceremony at the Annual Meeting, as well as at the ASTRO booth at the Annual Meeting. Congratulations to the 2018 ASTRO Survivor Circle Award recipients Susan Rafte from Houston and William Fults from San Antonio. They will receive their awards on Tuesday, October 23 at the ASTRO Annual Meeting in San Antonio.

    Survivor Circle Grant

Each year we offer two Survivor Circle grants of $10,000 to non-disease site specific cancer support organizations in the states that we visit during our annual scientific meeting. The Survivor Circle Grant program is an excellent opportunity for support organizations to advance their projects and get some recognition in the ASTRO community. Congratulations to Candlelighters of El Paso and the Light and Salt Association for being named the 2018 Survivor Circle Grant recipients. They will be recognized at the 2018 ASTRO Annual Meeting, October 21-24, 2018, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
