Lodging Resources

Some cancer patients and their families may find themselves in a position where they need to travel to a cancer center or hospital that is far from home. The following are resources that provide lodging assistance for patients and their families.

American Cancer Society Hope Lodge

www.cancer.org/hopelodge
Offers people with cancer and their families a free, temporary place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. Guests can have access to the ACS’s 24-hour toll-free call center, website and comprehensive on-site libraries. Accommodations and eligibility requirements may vary by location.

Dan's House of Hope

www.danshouseofhope.org
Dan’s House of Hope (DHOH) provides a home-away-from-home atmosphere enriched with a supportive community based experience—all conveniently nestled near nationally acclaimed University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Memorial Hermann Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital and additional leading healthcare institutions.

National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses Inc.

1-800-542-9730
www.nahhh.org
An association of nonprofit organizations that provide family-centered lodging and support services to families and their loved ones who are receiving medical treatment far from their home communities. NAHHH members/houses offer inexpensive accommodations during hospitalization, before and after surgery and during repeated visits.

The National Children’s Cancer Society

Helps families battling childhood cancer by offering direct financial assistance for non-medical expenses associated with treatment, including lodging and food.

Ronald McDonald House Charities

630-623-7048
www.rmhc.org
Provides a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. In return, families are asked to make a donation ranging from $5 to $25 per day, but if that isn’t possible, their stay is free.
