Financial Resources for People Receiving Radiation Therapy
National - Brain Tumors
Individuals with a primary or metastatic brain tumor may be eligible to receive financial assistance for treatment related expenses, including radiation therapy costs and co-pays, through the National Brain Tumor Foundation's Patient Help Fund. Grants range from $100 to $1,000. Patients must be over 18 and residents of the United States. Call 1-800-934-2873 or visit the Patient Help Fund online for an application.
National - Fertility Preservation
Fertile Hope has a program to help patients undergoing radiation therapy pay for fertility preservation treatments, including sperm banking and egg and embryo freezing. Visit Fertile Hope's Financial Assistance resource or call 1-800-994-HOPE.
National - Leukemia and Lymphoma
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Co-pay Assistance Program helps patients with radiation treatment co-pays as well as drug co-pays and medical insurance premiums for certain individuals. For more information, call 1-877-557-2672 or visit the program online.
New York
Through a special grant in New York, some patients undergoing radiation therapy may be eligible to receive some financial assistance. For more information, contact Cancer Care at 1-800-813-HOPE or e-mail info@cancercare.org.
Pennsylvania
In Pennsylvania, uninsured women with low to moderate incomes with breast cancer, cervix cancer or a primary breast cancer metastases may be eligible for free treatments, including radiation therapy. For more information, call 1-800-215-7494 and ask for the HealthyWoman Program. Similar programs exist for women outside of Pennsylvania. Visit the Centers for Disease Control and click on your state to find out what resources may be available to you.
